The purpose of modern education is not only to transfer information, but also to promote creativity, and to present knowledge that students can use in real life. In this sense, the teacher takes an intermediary role between the student and the society. Our society today is a participant in, and a witness to, turbulent times (economic crises, ecological shifts and political conflicts). Furthermore, in light of the information "explosion" taking place, the situation in all spheres of public life has changed considerably. Therefore, we need to re-examine the fundamental principals of contemporary education.

We, in the Republic of Georgia, have for some time considered the idea of creating a Parents and Teachers Association and concluded finally that it is extremely important, even necessary, to include parents in the learning process. Such a Parent-Teacher organization would help both groups become familiar with pedagogical theories and concrete examples of progressive educational approaches.
