Critical Thinking and the Internet

Thanks to modern computers and the worldwide web, anyone today can access a limitless range of information. Information technology is used in practically all spheres of human activity. The ability to find information and process it promptly, analyze it and make an appropriate decision, has become a precondition to success in today's world.

In informatics lessons, secondary school students become acquainted with the structure and informational resources of the web, familiarize themselves with the services which provide access to these resources, and acquire skills for practical work with information retrieval systems; that is, they learn to extract information. As a way of analyzing and processing the information thus retrieved, we recommend that our students use the approaches associated with critical thinking and active learning.
